A Castlefolk village of stone and timber houses beside the sea, with squads of knights and spearmen on the grass

Castlefolk

Build. Rule. Conquer.

Build a settlement, feed your people, raise an army and sail out to take a crown, in a relaxed real-time strategy game that never rushes you.

A kingdom, from one small settlement

  • Build & grow

Start with a small settlement and grow it into a kingdom, one house, tower and castle at a time.

  • Gather & feed

Harvest wood, herd sheep and mine gold. Everyone eats and every building has upkeep, so a bigger kingdom needs bigger supplies.

  • Raise your army

Train pawns into warriors, archers, lancers and monks, and keep them fed, healed and out of trouble.

  • Sail & conquer

Fight monsters and rival kingdoms, on land and across the sea, for control of the map.

What you will do

Build

Construct castles, houses, barracks, towers, monasteries and more. Every building you raise changes what your settlement can do next.

Manage

Balance population, housing, supply and military strength. Every soldier you train is a worker who stops gathering, and everyone has to eat.

Command

Orders stick: units see them through, and you can see every one on the map. Order a whole territory cleared or harvested, and save groups to hotkeys.

Fight

Command your forces in real-time battles against monsters and rival lords. Position matters as much as numbers.

Sail

Load up to six units onto a boat and cross the water. Fight from the deck, land on a hostile shore, and expect rival kingdoms to come at you by sea too.

Campaigns

Five campaigns across 17 maps, from your first humble settlement to the landing at Hastings, the field of Clontarf, the rock of Mont-Saint-Michel and the roads of Gaul. Plus five standalone maps for a quick game.

Create

Draw your own world in the built-in map editor, with islands, plateaus, bridges, creatures and rival kingdoms. Share it as a single file, and play maps made by others.

Conquer

Turn a tiny settlement into a kingdom capable of ruling the entire world. Rival kingdoms gather, build and raid by the same rules as you, so every win is earned.

A world worth ruling

Castlefolk is played at kingdom scale. Beyond your walls there are forests to clear, coastlines to settle, rival lords to outgrow — and things in the wilderness that will happily eat a lone woodcutter.

One map, many claims

Zoom out to the parchment map to see the whole world: your territory, your rival's, and everything still unclaimed between them.

The wilderness bites back

Goblins, trolls, gnolls and worse hold the ground you want. Some of them are a nuisance. Some of them end an expedition.

Cliffs and high ground

Plateaus with cliffs and narrow stairs turn ridges into fortresses. A ridge is only as strong as its one staircase.
